Paula Santomé’s multidisciplinary and research-based practice questions youth culture mostly through the prism of free party as a model of cultural resistance. With her work, she aims to reveal the tensions that emerge when individuals break free from the dominant structures they inhabit.

From large-scale drawing to clay reliefs, Paula Santomé contextualizes her work within her own experience, while trying to portray an entire generation. Questioning the notion of belonging and social gathering as a form of activism, her research into party scene encompasses an array of socio-political implications, but also reflects more intimate experiences and longings.

Paula Santomé work has been recently exhibited in several institutions and art spaces in Spain and Switzerland, including Kunsthalle Basel, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo Naturgy A Coruña, Museo de Pontevedra. In 2020 she was awarded with a grant to complete her Fine Arts Master Degree in Basel at the Institute Art Gender Nature HGK FHNW, and her works recently become part of public art collections, like Cantonal Collection Kunstkredit Basel-Stadt and Colección de Arte de la Deputación provincial de A Coruña.

Paula Santomé graduated with an MA from the Institute Art Gender and Nature HGK FHNW in 2022.
