For Katrin Freisager, photography means the production of a world of one’s own, establishing a connection to reality through the targeted use of this medium in order to delve deeper into fiction. Katrin Freisager lives and works in Zurich. She studied photography at the ZHDK in Zurich.
Her work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions at Kunsthaus Zürich, Fotomuseum Winterthur, Casino Luxembourg, Kunsthaus Aarau, Kunsthaus Baselland, Kunstmuseum Bern, Forum Stadtpark Graz, Rencontres Internationales de la Photographie Arles, Helmhaus Zürich, Städtische Galerie Dresden, Galerie Sztuki Krakow, NBK Berlin, Fotomuseo Bogota, MAC’s Musée des Arts Contemporaines Belgium, MUDAM Luxembourg, Grey Art Gallery New York, Haus für Kunst Uri and Oboro Artist Center Montreal, Canada. She has received several prizes and scholarships for her work, including the ZHDK Performance Award, the City of Zurich Scholarship, the Swiss Art Award, the Canton of Zurich Scholarship, the World Press Photo Award and Kunst am Bau.
She has also received artist residencies in New York and London. For several years she was a member of the board of the Art Commission of the City of Zurich. Her works are part of several museum- and public collections.
