Nuno da Luz
Artist, Lissabon
Master seminar
Nuno da Luz (born in Lisboa) is an artist whose work circumscribes both aural and visual in the form of performances, installations and printed matter. His work undulates from sonic explorations of place, where resonance and reverberation are inextricably entwined as both echo- and eco-logical processes, to book-making and publishing through the imprint ATLAS Projectos (in collaboration with Gonçalo Sena), and the slow-motion record label Palmario Recordings (in collaboration with Joana Escoval). In 2015, he completed the Master Program of Experimentation in Arts and Politics, created by Bruno Latour at Sciences Po, Paris, and founded COYOTE, a cross-cutting collective working on print, film, lectures and other experimental forms (in collaboration with Tristan Bera, Elida Høeg, Clémence Seurat and Ana Vaz). Recent projects include performing live with Assisted Resonance in Madrid, Ficarra, Paris, Porto, New York and Berlin; and the solo shows RWSNK ECHOS (Kunstraum Botschaft, Berlin, 2017), Sud e magia (Syntax, Lisboa, 2016), Song Cycle (Solar, Vila do Conde, 2015) and Wilderness (Galeria Vera Cortês, Lisboa, 2015). Alongside the filmmaker Ana Vaz, he has been developing the soundtrack to her upcoming film The Voyage Out, within her recent shows The Voyage Out: Mediums (Maison Conti/Centre d’art Ange Leccia, Oletta, 2018), The Voyage Out (LUX Moving Image, London, 2018); and as The Voyage Out Radio Series: 2222 ∞ 2022, a sonic exploration of her film to come, as a transmission, with episodes broadcast on R22 Tout-monde, NTS, and Jeu de Paume espace virtuel.
