Katrin Freisager is an artist or to be more precise, a photographer. I think it is important to say “photographer” since it precisely describes what she does: imagining the image.
Some think of cameras as devices and images as visual support for telling a story. So many of us are now interested in the stories, and highly so. But what happens when you conceive images that aren’t interested in a plot? – invested in exposition, development, climax and dénouement? Could these images still be linked with a dramaturgy? Yes, only, the main characteristic of her images is that they never look directly out at us, at the audience. They concentrate in something really complex: the dynamics of distribution of energy among all the elements that the picture reflects to us.
