Marion Ritzmann studied Fine Arts (Bachelor) at the FHNW Academy of Art and Design in Basel (2002-2005) and at the Zurich University of the Arts (Master) in Zurich (2013-2016). She has been part of the visarte admission committee since 2016.

She thinks and works with and in systems. She has tried to define the entry point for developing a work as an «aesthetic» moment in everyday life. «I understand my work as an ongoing process, which means that individual elements from previous works reappear in subsequent ones.»

Marion Ritzmann’s works have been shown in various solo exhibitions such as Kunstraum Kreuzlingen, Zimmermannhaus Brugg, L’Assaut de la menuiserie, lieu d’art contemporain in Saint-Étienne, Lokal-int, Biel, as well as in group exhibitions such as deuxpiece at Nationalmuseum in Berlin, at Kunstverein Tiergarten Berlin, at CAN – Centre d’art Neuchâtel, at Museum zu Allerheiligen in Schaffhausen, at Bezalel, Yaffo 23 in Jerusalem and Cabaret Voltaire in Zurich.

She has received various awards such as the Förderbeitrag von Kanton und Stadt Schaffhausen (2014, 2018), the ERNTE Kunstpreis (2013), as well as studio residencies such as the Migros Herdern studio grant from Stadt Zürich Kultur and the Zurich University of the Arts (2016-2018), Marseille studio grant from Atelier Mondial (2012) and Berlin studio grant from the Canton of Schaffhausen (2011).

Since 2015, edition fink, Verlag für zeitgenössische Kunst Zürich has been publishing Fortsetzung folgt, a series of publications conceived in partial publications that chronicles Marion Ritzmann’s work.
