Victoria Ivanova

Victoria Ivanova was born in Donetsk, Ukraine. She received a BA in Philosophy and Politics at the University of Leeds (2007), a Graduate Diploma in Law at London College of Law (2008), a Masters in Sociology (Human Rights) at the London School of Economics and Political Science (2010) and a Masters in Curatorial Studies at the Center for Curatorial Studies Bard College (2014).

Having worked in human rights on the European Commission Project Engaging Europe in the Fight for US Abolition (2009-2011) and various civil rights initiatives in Europe, Ivanova co-founded Izolyatsia, a platform for contemporary culture in Donetsk, Ukraine (2011) with the aim of fostering socio-economic diversification in the region. Between 2011 and 2013, Ivanova co-curated two site-specific research residencies that explored post-industrial identity and the 1990s post-Soviet phenomenon of turborealism. Ivanova co-edited Turborealism: Neither Bow Nor Arrow. Thinking with a Movement that Almost Was (2014). Other publications include Art’s Values: A Détente, a Grand Plié in PARSE Issue 2 (2015), Novelty Intermediation as Accelerationist Praxis in Reinventing Horizons (2016) and Mediating Freedom in The Post-Contemporary Issue of dismagazine.com (2016). Ivanova is a member of Real Flow (est. 2014) — an R&D project exploring the possibilities of socialising finance from the art field, and Office for Applied Complexity (est. 2016). Ivanova is also currently Assistant Curator for Public Programmes at Tate, London.
