The artistic investigations of Anita Muçolli (born in Burgdorf, CH, lives and works in Basel) draws from her research into new technologies, biotechnology, and hygiene, while creating works that address the human longing to transcend biological limitations. Her life-size sculptures and installations often serve to evoke visual narratives aimed at exploring the boundaries of existence and question the power structures the actual world creates. Anita Muçolli is also interested in the intricate relationships between humans and animals, and her work proposes to question the anthropocentrism that prevails in human’s relationship with non–human animals and entities.
Anita Muçolli studied Fine Arts (BA / MA) at the Institute Art Gender Nature HGK Basel FHNW. Her work has been shown in various group exhibitions including Kunsthaus Baselland; Kunsthaus Langenthal; Kunsthalle Palazzo, Liestal; Museo Villa dei Cedri, Bellinzona; The National Gallery of Kosovo, Pristina. Her first solo exhibition was held at Sattelkammer, Bern, followed solo presentations during Liste Art Fair, at Kulturfolger, Zurich; and CACY, Yverdon. She was awarded the Helvetia Art Prize 2021 and the Kiefer I Hablitzel Göhner Art Prize 2022.
