The work of Nina Emge (born in Zurich, where she lives and works) reflects on the social dimensions of sound, voice, and silence while integrating various listening practices. Among others, Emge explores issues such as decentralization and redistribution. This is evident in her installations and drawings, which reflect her research and archival work, as well as in the production processes of her artwork, which often involve shared working methods and collaboration. Emge is an active member of the Transnational Sound Initiative, a collective committed to exploring sound and, first and foremost, to re-evaluating and redefining our understanding of sound.
Emge’s work has been exhibited at institutions including Halle für Kunst, Lüneburg; Kunsthalle Zurich; Kunsthalle Bern; Istituto Svizzero, Rome and Milano; Kunstverein Braunschweig; Haus Konstruktiv, Zurich; among others.
