Shuang Li is an artist based between Berlin and Geneva. Her practice unfolds across performance, interactive websites, sculpture, and moving image installations. Trained in Media Studies at New York University, her work emerges from within globalized systems of communication and the uneven flows of information that shape our contemporary condition. She is deeply attentive to the mediums that compose the digital landscape, and to the interactions that occur not only between technologies and their users, but also between the mediums themselves. Across her practice, forms of mediated, infrastructural and embodied intimacy recur as central motifs. Her works examine how technologies bring us into contact while simultaneously operating within broader neoliberal structures that regulate bodies, affect, and desire. Importantly, her attention extends beyond the virtual interface to the material infrastructures that sustain it—logistics systems, cables, networks —and to the fissures and frictions that appear within them.
For Art Taaalkssss, Shuang Li will expand on these questions by reflecting on how digital infrastructures shape our experience of intimacy and proximity, and how artistic practice can intervene in, reveal, or complicate these systems. She will consider the entanglement of bodies, technologies, and desire, and explore the subtle cracks within communication networks, where alternative forms of relation and agency might emerge. Shuang Li’s exhbition Alliance at Kunsthalle Basel is on view from 12 June to 13 September 2026.
