PhD Translocal Climate Narratives: Aesthetic Strategies Beyond Solutions and Despair
Maëlle Cornut is a visual artist and arts researcher graduate of the research-based MFA CCC program at HEAD Genève, currently pursuing a practice-based PhD entitled Air Being(s) at ZHdK and KunstUni Linz, as part of the SNSF project Translocal Climate Narratives. Cornut’s research investigates human-atmosphere entanglements through a feminist transcorporeal lens with a focus on artistic methodologies of care. Cornut’s artistic practice unfolds across diverse contexts and through transdisciplinary collaborations, including a POLARTS grant for the project Intertwined Destinies with Gianalberto Losapio, as well as a doctoral partnership with MeteoSwiss.
Cornut’s work has been exhibited in Switzerland and internationally, notably at Rex Box, Bern; Villa Renata, Basel; HUG Geneva University Hospitals; Musée d’Art de Pully; MATZA Aletsch; standard/deluxe, Lausanne; Lokal-Int, Biel; Jungkunst, Winterthur; Accrochage [Vaud]. Cornut has also participated in Passage, an exhibition project by the Swiss Alpine Club and Regarder le glacier s’en aller, a national exhibition project addressing glacier disappearance. Cornut has previously taught in the TRANSforme Master program at HEAD Genève and currently leads a seminar at EDHEA (École de design et haute école d’art du Valais) exploring intersections between queer-feminist and environmental perspectives.
