Our Exhibitions

Art production and exhibition plays an important role in the activity of the lecturers, students and alumni of the Institute Art Gender Nature. Not only do we present special commissions from international artists and alumni at der TANK — our exhibition space on the Campus of the Arts —, we also produce numerous shows and projects involving people related to the Institute Art Gender Nature in other places in Switzerland and abroad. This section of our website provides an overview of current and past projects.

der TANK

der TANK is the Institute’s exhibition space on the Campus of the Arts at Dreispitz, Basel. It is a glass cube found at the core of a campus. The enclosed openness of der TANK acts as a metaphor for the Institute Art Gender Nature as a whole.

At the Institute Art Gender Nature HGK Basel FHNW we explore and interrogate art practices in their social context and imagine how they might be structured in the future, thus finding and developing new methods. The Institute Art Gender Nature is a place where practice determines our thinking, processes, and discussions about what “making” means for art.
