Karin Borer is an artist living in Basel. She studied at the Zurich University of the Arts, where she graduated with a Master of Fine Arts in 2016. Since 2023 she runs together with Daniel Kurth the exhibition space Stretcher, located at InfoSpace in Basel. She was also co-curator of  Schwarzwaldallee Basel (2011–2017).
She is co-founder of the self-initiated studio building Auf dem Wolf 11 in Basel and heads the office.

In her artistic practice, she deals with aspects of power and control within ecological, social, political or economic structures. She focuses in essence on (auxiliary) instruments that enable, consolidate but also destroy such structures. Her objects and installations are triggered by ephemeral additions – possible protagonists are present as absentee figures.

Karin Borer has shown her work in solo and duo exhibitions at Kunstmuseum Solothurn, Spazio Lampo Chiasso, Lokal-int Biel/Bienne, Milieu Bern, Giulietta Basel and WallStreet Fribourg as well as recently in group shows including Basel Social Club, Portland Zürich, Third Street Gallery Shanghai, Kunsthalle Bern, Stadtgalerie Bern, Riverside Basel/Worblaufen, Kunst Raum Riehen, Kunsthaus Langenthal, Kunsthalle Basel, Kunsthaus Pasquart Biel, La Rada Locarno and Kunstverein Freiburg. She has also received the Werkbeitrag Kanton Basel-Stadt (2017 and 2022) and residencies such as Atelier Mondial in Berlin (2017 ), Kanton Solothurn in Paris (2022) and Pro Helvetia Residency in China (2024).
