Lecturer master
Plenum, artistic mentoring, curator alumnae:i exhibitions at der TANK

Dr. phil. Roman Kurzmeyer is a Senior Lecturer at Institute Art Gender Nature HGK Basel FHNW and curator of the Ricola Collection. He is chairman of the board of trustees of the Camille Graeser Foundation in Zurich and since 2022 a member of the Swiss Federal Art Commission (EKK). In 2004 Kurzmeyer was awarded the Prix Meret Oppenheim. Art history, as he teaches it, is a history of artistic practice and thus encompasses both the artists and their conditions of production as well as the works and their public exhibition. In the mentoring discussions with the students, both the work situation and the distinction between author and external perception of the individual art proposal are accordingly important. Kurzmeyer is co-editor of the catalogue of all exhibitions organised by Harald Szeemann (1933-2005) and author of Zeit des Zeigens: Harald Szeemann, Ausstellungsmacher (2019). Most recently published are Atelier Amden / The Amden Atelier 19992015 (2015); Existenz und Form. Schriften zur neueren Kunst I (2015); Doppelte Artikulation. Schriften zur neueren Kunst II (2022), and The Ricola Collection. Present and Past (2025).
