Tobias Koch (born in Basel, lives and works in Berlin) is a composer and sound artist working across performance, visual arts, film, and music. Believing in the material and emotional properties of sound, through his work he came to understand that sound can have more tangible properties rather than immaterial effects. He is interested in sound for accessing emotional information and memory. Currently Tobias Koch is working on ideas around sonic architecture and acoustical imagination. According to him, listening does not solely have an auditory function but can serve as a more comprehensive understanding and experiencing of the world and people around you.

He previously scored works presented at MoMA New York, documenta 14, Frieze Art Fair, Tate Modern, Centre Pompidou, Volksbühne Berlin, and others. His sound design and music compositions were featured in several award winning films presented at Film Festival Cannes, Locarno Film Festival, IFFR Rotterdam, Berlinale, and Toronto International Film Festival. His latest work for the feature film Drii Winter was awarded the Georges Delerue Award and is nominated for two Swiss Film Awards 2023.
