Through score, sculpture, text, photography, sound, and video, the work of Wisrah C. V. da R. Celestino (born in Buritizeiro, Brazil, lives and works between Braunschweig, and São Paulo) addresses the remaining structures of the transatlantic colonial project, focusing on institutional critique, language, and objecthood. Often working with scores that operate somewhere between instructions for and descriptions of a work, C. V. da R. Celestino imbues theoretical questions of possession, property, and belongings with their own personal experience.
In 2023, Wisrah C. V. da R. Celestino received the Ducato Prize Residency Award, as well as the Ministry of Science and Culture of the Lower Saxony Residency Grant, and was announced as one of the finalists of the Foundwork Artist Prize. Future projects include a solo exhibition at Kevin Space, Vienna, and a group exhibition at SALTS, Basel, resulting from a residency at Haus Gawaling located in the village of Mathon at the foot of Piz Beverin in Graubünden.
