YOGAVAASAM

Janu Maya warmly welcomes you to Yogavaasam (the House of Yoganathan), which was built in 1953 on the land owned by her mother’s maternal great-grandfather. The analogue images, shot on her most recent journey to Sri Lanka, reflect the soul of the house, its surroundings, and her grandfather who is the caretaker of Yogavaasam. The exhibition delves into what it means to return to the ancestral land as a person born and raised in the diaspora and to embrace the tales of the past.
